Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors
Rabbi Stan Levy, JD is the visionary co-founder of the Academy and serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors as well as Professor of Spiritual Development in the Academy’s Rabbinical, Cantorial and Chaplaincy Schools. Rabbi of Congregation B’nai Horin – Children of Freedom, in Los Angeles, and senior attorney with the law firm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, Rabbi Levy is the co-founder of Bet Tzedek (The House of Justice) which provides free legal services to over 10,000 poor and elderly people each year. He is the founding national director of Bet Tzedek’s Holocaust Survivors Justice Network, which assists Holocaust survivors seeking reparations. Under Rabbi Levy’s leadership, the Holocaust Survivors Justice Network received the American Bar Association’s “2009 Pro Bono Publico Award.” He also serves as the ethicist on the Institutional Biological Safety Committee of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Rabbi Levy received his B.A. in Economics from UCLA and his juris doctor from the UCLA School of Law. He received his ordination from the ALEPH Rabbinical ordination program.
